Shahrzad Paintings

About Shahrzad

Shahrzad has been painting ever since she was a little girl. She won the first prize of a festival in city twice, when she was in Elementary school; without even knowing that she had something within her to express.

She studied History of Art and the basics of Visual Arts in the Kamalolmolk Art Conservatory in Tehran. She also held an art gallery for a time period of four years, and had many drawing and painting students alongside exhibiting her works. Shahrzad also participated in the painting group exhibitions in Tehran.

Most of her past paintings consisted of figurative, portrait, and usually according to the principles of realistic style trying different techniques including pencils, pastel, coloured pencils, and charcoal. The turning point happened when she understood modern art, and found new tools for it through Contemporary Art.

A few years before arriving in Canada, she finally was able to express her feelings through the colours, exploring new textures, and sometimes using Persian patterns she carried from her culture. She found out that using oil colours give her more freedom and tools to convey her message. Shahrzad eventually understood how much she was inspired by the colours and textures around her, especially in the nature. She eventually found her voice and unique signature to express what she had all this time within her.

She is also a psychotherapist here in Canada. However, she will never let this important part of her life to fade away. Everyday, she is somehow gravitated towards drawing and painting. And yes, art is her profession!

This is the very first and memorable work I painted when arrived in Canada, showing in an art opening doors art gallery in Toronto at the placement that I was taking my internship and it was like a transformation to live life here in Canada again.

The concept is about the vision of the organization which helps the immigrants to find their own way to live in Canada that assists them to fly and soar to their best version and get butterfly 🦋 sometimes!
There are also famous quotations about life, hope and love on my painting from different cultures which I learned from my lovely colleagues speaking diverse languages in Urdu, Russian, Hindu, Portages, Spanish and so on!

One of the photos is about a letter I received from an audience about my artwork which is so valuable to me.

Cheers to everyone who appreciates her/his passion for living life.

Whenever I start a new painting, I have no idea where it is taking me to. Every painting is like an unknown and mysterious journey for me. I have just a vivid vision of it in my mind until it is finished and eventually turns out to be something that I have in myself but am not aware of, however, this journey is always full of passion, excitement and unknown feelings that I cannot help digging into it!
